Exhibition Description and Syllabus
Course Description: The Exhibition is a semester long opportunity for a student to research and later present his/her findings in an area of particular interest to him/her. Successfully meeting standard on all three final rubrics is required in order for students to meet the exhibition portion of LHS graduation requirements. The student must work with the course instructor as well as an outside mentor in order to fulfill the requirements, which include: developing a core questions which will guide the research; conducting extensive and varied research; developing a product (intellectual or physical) which provides an answer to the guiding question; honing oral presentation and multimedia skills; and completing reflective journals. Student curiosity and persistence, a strong work ethic and a dedication to furthering his/her learning and accomplishment in an area of interest to the student are critical to success.

Semester Assessment: Quarter 1 – 32.5%
Quarter 2 – 32.5%
Final Exam* – 35% (all or nothing)
* The final exam requires the student to orally present his/her exhibition project before a panel of five judges. Before presenting, the student must first complete all components of the exhibition binder. To receive the full 35%, a student must meet standard overall on the presentation rubric.

Academic Management:
1. Good attendance is important to your success.
2. If absent from school, homework assignments are due the day the student returns to school. If you miss class due to tardiness, field trips, assemblies, Spirit Week activities, etc., assignments must be submitted to the teacher on the original due date.
3. Cheating on quizzes, tests, projects, or other graded assignments will result in an automatic 0 grade for all parties involved.
4. Plagiarism of any kind results in an automatic 0 grade for all parties involved.
· It is the student’s responsibility to make up all missed work if absent. Students who have been out for an extended time should see me for make-up dates.
· If you schedule an appointment/make-up session and don’t show up you will receive a zero grade. Please don’t waste my time—my schedule varies just like yours and my time is as valuable as yours. NO EXCEPTIONS!
Classroom Rules: As a member of this class, you are responsible for your behavior. The following rules are designed to maximize the effectiveness of instruction as well as create an enjoyable learning environment for all parties involved.
1. Practice attendance skills: be in assigned seat on time and remain there until dismissed.
2. Practice participation skills: flash drive, notebook, writing utensil, folder, and homework available at the beginning of every class.
3. Practice communication skills: follow directions the first time they are given. If you don’t understand directions, ask for clarifications immediately, not once the assignment has begun. If you have a question, someone else probably does as well.
4. Practice professional skills: be respectful of others and they will respect you. Keep hands, feet, objects, and negative comments to yourself. No eating, drinking, hair combing, or application of make-up/perfumes/sprays, etc. is allowed. Profanity will not be tolerated!
5. Practice LHS rules: know your handbook rules and adhere to them.
6. Please keep in mind that teaching is my job and, as part of this job, it is my responsibility to help you succeed. If you become a behavioral problem, I will use my discretion to dismiss you from class, assign you detention and/or call home. If you have trouble following rules or completing work, a phone call home to your parent/guardian will take place immediately.

- Plastic sheet pocket page protectors. These have 3 holes on the left, to fit into your binder. You probably want to start with 30 but may need more.
