This blog is intended to enhance your learning experience. We can share thoughts and ideas which, I hope, will expand our perspectives on not only topics related to war, genocide, and peace but also in our everyday lives. Good luck and have fun! PLEASE NOTE - Your responses will be assessed for 1.) responding to the prompt thoroughly, 2.) responding to the thoughts of your classmates, 3.) creativity of response, and 4.) appropriate language and correct writing conventions.
This particular subject has both fascinated and nauseated people throughout history. We are horrified by war and yet history is oftentimes a story of warfare. We are repulsed by the horrors of war, but yet we cannot help ourselves and want to know more about it. We will study conflict and take an in-depth look at genocide. However, we will also consider ways to forge lasting peace in the world.

I wanted to take this class because history really interests me. I like looking at both perspectives and coming to a consensus of what happened, why it occurred, and the effects that it had. Whether it be a conflict between two small nations that turned into an all out war between allies or why a genocide occurred. I also enjoy hearing other people's opinions and debating on topics. I don’t believe that humans can establish a real permanent peace, although that's what I want I don’t believe that it’s possible. A permanent peace solution simply isn't feasible, at the end of the day people will do whatever they need to survive. Earth simply doesn't have the resources to sustain the way of life that we are accustomed to, this means that when resources start to run low (like energy and clean water) humans will look to others for help and if help is refused they will turn to violence and take it by force.

I felt that the material covered in this class would help flesh out my knowledge of history and some of the larger social trends that lead to the extermination of various sections of that society. I have thought a lot about the individual aspect of this, but the tendency for compliance and cooperation in individuals which allows for genocide does not explain the driving force that takes control. I believe looking into historical examples from a broader viewpoint can lead me to figure out what that is.

I wanted to take this class because history has always been a strong suit for me. Whenever we would cover wars in history class, I always became deeply interested and wanted to find out what and why. I would like to know the reasoning behind certain warns or any gain that certain wars had. I also want to become more aware so that future wars can be preventable. However, I do think wars can be preventable but I do not think that we can achieve permanent peace as a human race. I believe that there will always be a certain circumstance that will prevent the world from achieving complete peace.

History and social studies have always interested me. I like delving deep into why things happened, how they happened, and how events could have played out differently. Though I don't like violence, war fascinating subject to me. Wars have marked human history since the beginning of society and even earlier. To a certain extent, wars have marked the way we live, from the language we speak to the country we swear allegiance to. From my understanding, we are not going to cover historical war very much in this course, but I am looking forward to learning more about the current wars that the nation is involved in. To be completely honest, I know little to nothing about these wars, but I do understand that they've been going on my entire lifetime, and I would like to know what the potential consequences in the future could be.

I chose to take this course because I have an interest in this particular topic. I have been interested in history, especially the history that is not so commonly talked about. These topics affect people now and will continue to be a factor in the future. War, genocide, and the strive for peace are still current issues that I believe should be more openly spoken about. I hope this class will educate me about current events, like the United States in Iraq, as well as teach me the philosophy behind war. I personally view war as inhumane so I am very excited to learn enough to take a definitive stance on the topic. As for a permanent peace, I don't believe it is realistic or possible. Peace is relative, and people are too 'human' for it to ever be possible. The world would have to be perfect in order for peace to truly occur, and the world will just never be that. Too many disagreements, too many different opinions, too many instigators. These differences would ultimately tear us apart, making peace impossible.

I wanted to take this class because learning about how and why a conflict started and what happened sounds very interesting to me. I would also love to hear about topics that aren't talked about in any other history class. Learning about other peoples viewpoints and what they believed is very important to know because there is never one side to any type of conflict. I would want to hear many perspectives about a topic so there is a full understanding. There will always be conflict throughout life. It simply is impossible for everyone to agree on one thing because people have different viewpoints on everything. I don't believe humans can ever find a way out of conflict and find permanent peace. I would want permanent peace but there will never be a way to get out of conflict. What I believe from others can have two completely different sides. There's always something to argue about because everyone believes in different ways and what they want there peace to be from my personal beliefs is two different sides.

I wanted to take this class mainly for two reasons. The first of these being that I have always loved history and thought that that this class could help me understand history a little more. The second reason I chose to take this class is because I believe that through out history we see how history repeats itself. The only way to control how history repeats itself is first learning what happened in the first place. Those are the two reasons I chose to take this class.

I wanted to take this class because of how important the topic was. Genocide is still happening today and the question of world peace is one of the biggest questions we ask today. I believe we can sustain a temporary peace within our cultures and societies but outside of that we can’t. To gather the leaders of every country and come to a consensus is impossible. There are entire cultures and societies brought up to hate and to act violent upon others. There are hundreds of countries and groups of people that hate each other to get everyone to agree is immpossible. America is one of the most free countries there is, and still has to deal with murder, robbery, rape and all sorts of crimes. This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have an agenda to work towards world peace because obviously we can make things better and create more order and peace. But I can’t agree with the proposal of every little person coming together and cooperating based on how damaged we are.

Why I joined this class is because I want to find the real reason why war starts and to help stop war from happening for generations to come and I do think human’s can establish world peace if everyone tries hard enough to be united as a world and to try to accept everyones differences and to love everyone I think we can have world peace and no war even though it will be hard to pull it off I think if we try hard enough I think humans can have peace

I joined this class as I am interested in a class in which I can discuss with other people ideas or opinions about different topics going on in the world right now and about the possibility of peace. To learn other people's opinions about many different topics compared to my opinions.

I joined this class to learn more about history, and war as well as other things like religion and what it all means. I also joined to share my opinion with others with the conflict going on today and in the past. To learn other peoples opinion on war and peace is fascinating.

I joined this class as I am interested in learning about the reasons and thought processes behind wars and what leaders have to consider before starting a war. I am also interested in hearing other people's opinions who might not have the same views as me. I do not think humans can develop real and lasting peace as the ideas of conflict and need for power is deeply embedded in human nature. Peace is an ideal we can work for, but the likelihood of it actually happening is very slim.

I took this class because I have a big interest in history depending on what it is. i am interested to see what causes war and what outcomes can come along with war. Also the choices you have to make during the war. I also want to hear peoples opinions on war and get into discussions that make us either disagree or agree with one another.

I am in this class because I did not really want to be in Mr Krusz's Bio Tech class. Music appreciation was not really an interest either, and public speaking just was a no go. I enjoy learning about History even though I'm really not a baller when it comes to that. I'm a pretty good listener though so.

I want to be in this class because I believe that learning about history of war can be very beneficial and interesting. Also it is good to learn about how situations are started and how they can be prevented in the future.
