The three monotheistic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) all derived originally in the Middle East from a common person - Abraham. As a result they share many common characteristics, particularly their acceptance of one God. However, recent world events have focused much attention on these religions because of the many conflicts among them. With this attention, there have been many critics and supporters vocalizing their stance on the various religions. Some people have called for toleration of all religions everywhere, while others claim this is not possible as long as religions believe they teach the truth. In today's world, can these three monotheistic faiths co-exist peacefully? BE SURE TO GIVE REASONS FOR YOUR POSITION AND CITE EVIDENCE FROM YOUR DOCUMENTS!

I agree that the religions should co-exist. One reason is that they have the same god. " You shall not misuse the name of the lord your god, for the lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name." I picked this quote because you should respect your god and what the rules he says. Another reason that they should co-exist is the religions should not fight each other and just respect each other. " Muslims are attacking christians in Nigeria..." There should be none of that and the religions should help each other out. These reasons are for co-existing the religions together.

Your religion shouldn’t define you as a person. It’s like saying I think veganism is stupid and someone else is thinking veganism is the best thing in the world. We don’t agree on something so we’re going to just live separate and not talk to each other not co-exist. No, we have to deal with other peoples beliefs. Just don’t pick a fight or bring it up. The first reason I believe they should coexist is because everyone has opinions. If I don’t believe in your religion what’s the point of bringing it up. Everyone’s a human being and I believe that your religion shouldn’t reflect you as a person. George Washington states, “All possess alike liberty of conscience and immunities of citizenship.” Document 4. if I’m a Christian why can’t I be friends with a muslim? And just to prove it even more my best friend is a muslim. Does that mean I just have to cut my friend off just because she belives in something else? My second reason is that we will learn how to respect one another even more. Respect is a key trait that people have. If you respect someone they will respect you back. “Muslims are attacking Christians in Nigeria, Sudan, the Caucasus, Palestine, Iraq, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.” Document 5. There only doing it out of the heat from their heart. If they had respect for Christians none of this would be happening. my third reason is that we’re all people so I don’t understand what the point of all this commotion is. We all have family. We all have a life to live. And if you live your life hating other people, killing other people, doing all that rude stuff then you’re just an evil person. It shouldn’t matter what religion you are because we all have the same heart. I understand we can’t change the past but we can change the future by co-existing and becoming one family. together we will be strong no matter what we believe in. The United States already has Muslims, Christians, and Jews living peacefully, so why can’t the rest of the world grow up and be a better person.

I believe that all religions can be able to accept their differences and get along. For example, in school there are people of different religions but that doesn’t bother me and it shouldn’t bother anyone else. But around the world people feel so strongly that only their religion is the truth and will not accept any other opinion. Someone’s religion is none of anyone else’s business and shouldn’t become a problem. Around the world there are wars because people believe one thing and others believe another and they don’t get along. People need to accept the fact that not everyone will agree with them and get along despite their different opinions. If my friend had an opposing opinion to my opinion, I wouldn’t stop being friends with them, we could still get along even though we have different views. This is how the world should get along. We should put aside our different beliefs and be able to work together. No one should feel ashamed for practicing their religion. In his letter, George Washington said, “everyone shall sit in safety under his own vine and figure, and their shall be none to make him afraid.” (Document 4) He believed that all religions should be accepted.

I believe that the 3 religions of islam Christianity and Judaism can co-exist for many reasons. One being that they can all agree on only believing in one god. In document three it says "there is no deity except him" That is the document for islam saying they only believe in one god. In document one its says " i am the lord your god" implying that there is only god. And lastly the Judaism also believes in only one god. And i do think that that is enough to let the three religions live together in a modern day society.

I believe that all religions can co exist because they all have a god that they worship "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your god," (Document 1). If people understand that everyone worships a god like they do then they will understand that they can worship their god and they can worship their god. My second reason is if other religions would help the other religions it will make the people of said religions more together. "Muslims are attacking Christians in Nigeria, Sudan, the Caucasus, Palestine, Iraq, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines," (Document 5). If the other religions would help fight back the Muslims attacking then there would be more peace in the world and people would learn to like each other instead of hate. My third and final reason is people don't always have to solve things with violence "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you," (Document 2). In the modern world a lot of people love to settle things with violence if everybody can learn how to except each other then the world would be a much better place and we wouldn't be hearing about constant war and killings or fights.

I personally believe that all 3 religions are capable of co-existing in today's world. I say this because for one reason they all glorify the same exact god, this can push the people closer together no matter what religion they come from. "Allah - there is no deity except him"..."the Sustainer of [all] existence" from document three it is stating that the god of islam is claiming he is also the god of all existence. I also believe that the only way that different religions can live as one nation, is if they all agree to be respectful with one another because it all depends if everyone is able to keep their own opinions to themselves. If one person has a problem with how someone else expresses themselves they should learn to not say it out loud, to prevent harm or prevent any bad situation from happening and only have peace as an outcome. In document 4 George Washington is trying to spread peace saying "every one shall sit in safety under his own vine and figtree. and there shall be none to make him afraid.", this quote was chosen because it is conveying that everyone should mind their own business to block any negativity that may come and is also explaining that any religion is okay to practice. Everyone is able to co-exist as long as they spread nothing but happiness.

I believe that these three monotheistic faiths co-exist peacefully, in today's world for multiple reasons. One reason is that religion is a personal belief that does not really affect anyone else. For example at school, no one separates because of religion. If I believe in God and my friend does not, that does not mean that we can peacefully interact. Religion is mostly expressed in a religious place such as a church or a synagogue. A second reason is that the three faiths, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, all worship one god. In each religion, the god may not be viewed the same or taught the same but ideally, the god is the same. For example in Document 1 it says “ ‘I am the LORD your God …” and “ ‘ You shall have no other gods before me.” In document 3 it states that “ there is no deity except him”. This means there is no God except him. If you look at these two statements from the outlines of Christianity and Islam you can see that they say the same thing. Finally, the actual religion does not affect the ability of these three to co-exist peacefully the people who worship them do. Instead of seeing the similarities, radical worshipers see the differences and bring these religions farther and farther apart. For example, In document 5, David Buchanan shows his strong Anti-Islamic ideas with a rather ‘ radical’ Christian point of view.

I believe that all the three religions are able to co-exist because they already do in a way. For example, our school has students that preach different religions and we respect their beliefs. Also, they believe in the same god, as described in this quote. "Allah - there is no deity except Him. the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence." This says that Islam's god is the god of everyone. George Washington says, "May the father of all mercies scatter light and not darkness in our paths, and make sure all in our several vocations useful here, and in his own due time and way everlastingly happy." Saying 'the father of all mercies' agrees with the last statement and he also just wants every citizen to be happy, no matter what religion they preach. He believes that everyone can respect every religion and not feel the need to spread hatred.

I believe that all three religions could co-exist peacefully together in this time. I think this because they all have one thing in common, that is they all believe in one god. If people were to see that the other people around them were believing in one god like them and they are not forcing each other into their religion I do not think anyone would have a problem with co-existing with each other. It also states right in document 1 "I am the LORD your God" which pretty much means I am your one god. I feel if these religions were not bothered by one another they could peacefully co-exist.

I believe that all 3 monotheistic beliefs can co exist peacefully today because they all believe in the same exact god. Document 3 says " there is no deity except him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. All three religions only believe in him. Even though beliefs are taught differently throughout religions they all still believe in the same god. For example in document 5 Buchan says adultery and homosexuality are sins and they are capital crimes in Islamic countries. This shows that these religions might have different ways of teaching their beliefs but at the end of the day they have many similar beliefs. Finally I believe that these 3 religions can co exist if they respect each other. In document 4 George Washington says "every one shall sit in safety under his own vine and figtree, and there shall be none to make him afraid." George Washington is saying that as long as they all respect each other then nothing bad would happen.

I truly believe that in today's world these three monotheistic faiths can in fact co-exist peacefully. No matter what religion you follow it should not matter if people should get along or not. Everybody is a human and believing in a different religion should not change the way others think of you. All three of these faiths have a major part in common which is they all believe in a single god. For example, in the text it states several times,"LORD your God"(Document 1) This certainly explains how there is only one god in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam although, they may not be seen the exact same way they all follow the one god very similarly. Another reason these faiths in today's world will co-exist peacefully is because it has already worked in the United States. For instance, the text mentions,"For happily the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens...there shall be none to make him afraid."(Document 4) In this excerpt, George Washington clearly means that these different believes are welcomed and there should be no harm in believing different religions. Lastly, another reason in today's world these different beliefs would co-exist calmly is that Buchanan expresses that in the world today there are millions of proper Muslims around the world. This concludes how most Muslims in our world are harmless and have related beliefs. All in all, in the world today it should not matter what religion you practice all faiths should co-exist peacefully, we are all human.

I think the 3 religions could coexist peacefully. They all have roots from aberham and are almost the same thing so i don't see how they couldn't. Its also the modern world and religious tensions have slightly gone down so if they cant coexist now they definetly will be able to in the future. All 3 religions sort of alreadg coexist in america so i'd think it wouldnt be hard for the rest of the world to do it

I believe that it is indeed possible for Islam Judaism and Christianity to coexist. I believe that in order to coexist people must put their personal differences aside. I believe that the religions are similar enough and allow for coexistence IF people put the differences aside. In all three religions it is required to love and worship God. Many of the moral and ethical views are the same. This shows again that if they put personal differences aside they could coexist.

I believe as 3 religions who consistantly find ways to hurt or poke fun at eachother will not be able to "live" /coexist with eachother seeing as yes they do somewhat have common ground in places like accepting one god and only one god there has been too much history between religions not being so "nice" to eachother yes in a perfect world all people and religions should be able to coexist without a problem but its not a perfect world so my stand point on this subject is no the three religions aforementioned will not be able to live together anytime soon

I think that monotheistic beliefs can co-exist today because they all technically believe in the same god. This is shown in Doc 3 "there is no deity except him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer. If all three believe in the same god then they agree on the fundament idea that it created life. Another example that these religions can coexist is The United States of America. The first president of the nation said “everyone shall sit in safety under his own vine and figure, and their shall be none to make him afraid.” In Doc 5 Buchan stated adultery and homosexuality are sins in the islamic faith. This also corresponds with the other two religions. These religions are close to each other with small variations separating them that is why they are able to coexist.
