The three monotheistic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) all derived originally in the Middle East from a common person - Abraham. As a result they share many common characteristics, particularly their acceptance of one God. However, recent world events have focused much attention on these religions because of the many conflicts among them. With this attention, there have been many critics and supporters vocalizing their stance on the various religions. Some people have called for toleration of all religions everywhere, while others claim this is not possible as long as religions believe they teach the truth. In today's world, can these three monotheistic faiths co-exist peacefully? BE SURE TO GIVE REASONS FOR YOUR POSITION AND CITE EVIDENCE FROM YOUR DOCUMENTS!

The three monotheistic faiths can coexist peacefully. I beleive this because Judaism, Christianity and Islam have a lot of similarities and they all originate from Abraham. In George Washinton's letter to Moses Seixas he writes "May the children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhavitants" he's sayings that everyone should be able to practice whatever religion they want to as long as they obey the laws.

I believe that in today's world we can have the three monotheistic faiths go-exist peacefully. The is really no reason that we can not all get a long and live with each other. All three faiths have a least on big thing in common, and that's to have only one god. In Document 1, (The ten commandments) line three says the third commandment is "you shall have no other god before me" showing that you can only worship one god, just like Christianity. In document two (Matthew 22:34-40) It says the first commandment is to "Love the lord your god with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" That shows to give all your love to god, just like Judaism. In Document 3 (qur'an,surah 2:255) quotes "Allah- there is no deity except him, the ever-living, the sustainer of all existence" That shows Islam believes the same as Judaism and Christianity. Since all these religions have the same beliefs as the others, they should get along. I believe that the reason some religions dislike each other is because they are closed minded, and are to self absorbed to be open to other people's beliefs. This generation is more open then the past generations, so i believe they can co-exist also because of the new generations.

I believe that the three monotheistic religions can coexist together. Every religion says that you shall only have one god. In document 2 a Pharisee says “ Teacher, what is the greatest commandment in the law?” Jesus replies “ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind”(Matthew 22:34-40). The Ten Comandments are the central part of Judaism. The first commandment states that “ I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. You shall have no other gods before me”(Exodus 20). And in Islam the Qur’an is the book of their religion. It says, “ Allah - there is no diety (God) besides him, the Ever-Living, the Sistainer of all existence”(Qur’an, Surah 48: 28-29). These religions are so similar that we should be able to all get along, yet there are still people not doing so. It needs to change.

I believe that these three monotheistic religions can co-exist together because, all of these religions have only one got that they worship to. in (doc 2) an expert in law once asked, "which is the greatest commandment in the law" to Jesus who then replied back "love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" All of these religions worship one god, they all have a set of laws that they have to follow and they all have to love god more than others. These religions should not have a problem existing together and remaining in peace.

The three monotheistic faiths, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, can coexist. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and there is no reason for them to have difficulties coinciding. Nor can they tell each other what is right and wrong. According to Document 4, "The citizens of the United States of America have a right to applaud themselves for having given to making examples of an enlarged and liberal policy." The United States is a country with many different religions in which they all can coexist even if some may not want to. The monotheistic faiths may believe that they are incapable to coincide with one another, however, if they put their differences aside then and only then they can see their similarities. For example one of their similarities is how they all believe in one god. According to document 5, “We were born a Christian nation, an extension of Christendom.” This is another example, of how they are similar and that is that they all branch from Christianity. Thus, the three monotheistic faiths are able to coexist by putting their differences aside and using the United States as an example of what to do in order to coexist.

All three of these religions have gotten along this far, there is no way we could treat each other any worse than we have in the past. Actually, we have better understandings for each other than we ever have. I believe that with all of the things that people go through, religions should be the last of our worries. Everyone has there own opinions, and if people can't understand that then they are going to have to deal with it. But with all of the kids in our generation that except each other for who they are and what they want to be, we should have no problem with what any of our friends or family believe in our future.

I believe there can be peace between the three monotheistic religions. The peace may be unstable and hard to maintain but it is possible. George Washington said “... to prosecution no assistance...”(Doc4) This shows that the prosecution of people based on their religion is not to be tolerated in the United States. The United States has a large influence on what other countries do. There can be a peace as long as people follow rules and respect others. This may be hard to maintain though because some areas are just too set in their ways. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini does not like foreigners,”Xenonmaniacs, people try to westernize every thing you have!”(Doc 6), this shows that there are people that are not willing to accept the ideas of others and will not allow their way of life to be changed even if it could help them. Just like there are some countries that will not accept the support of other countries just because of their beliefs. If people can learn to accept and trust others there can be peace between the three religions.

I feel as if these religions should co exist , on paper these religions are similar in so many ways like both have the same main ideas but the characters are changed a little. However these religions most likely won’t co exist , people are irrational and won’t submit to the idea that someone else has a different view . In George Washington’s article he stated that as long as one obeys the rules and laws of this country that they would be allowed to live and practice whatever faith they want in this country . Meaning that legally we could all co exist and live peacefully but it most likely won’t happen .

I believe that these three monotheistic religions can coexist because Christianity and Islam have lots of similarities and have the same founder Abraham. In document 4 geography Washington letter to Moses seixas “May the children of stock of Abraham who dwell in this land continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhavitants” George Washington is saying that everyone should be able to practice what ever religion they want as long they obey the law of the religion and respect the law

I do not believe these monotheistic religions can coexist. Like Patrick Buchanan explained in his article. why americans would "be reflexively skeptical and wary of Islam". People have been born and raised in there respective religions. Convincing them to come together and coexist after a long period of separation will be difficult. You also have to deal with radical religious groups like al-Qaida. Who want to destroy other religions and can be very dangerous when trying to put aside differences.

I believe that the three monotheistic religions can co-exist together peacefully. There may be some struggles and obstacles to get through but it’s not impossible. Both christianity, judaism, and islam both have similarities that can get them to get along. For example both religions say that you shall only have one god. Also in Document 4, George Washinton's letter to Moses Seixas he states, "May the children of the Stock of Abraham, who dwell in this land, continue to merit and enjoy the good will of the other inhavitants" I think George Washing is trying to say that everyone has a right to practice their own religious beliefs they believe in as long as they obey the laws. This was to keep peace and harmony, but also to have the religions co-exist.
